Education should give you an edge. Lakeland College gives you that edge by preparing you with skills to take directly to the workforce or on to further education. Your years at Lakeland College will be memorable ones. In addition to receiving a superior education, you will have the opportunity to participate in a range of clubs and activities, and to benefit from a substantial awards program. The philosophy of the majority of the academic programs is that students learn by doing and so the "hands on" lab types of course are of great importance. At Lakeland College, students do "live the learning".
Lakeland College first opened its doors in 1913 as the Vermilion School of Agriculture, and has a long and vibrant history. Today, Lakeland College is Canada’s only inter-provincial college. The College is both a "sanctioned" part of the Saskatchewan Regional College System and an Alberta Public College. Campuses are located in Lloydminster and Vermilion. Also located in Vermilion is the Fire and Emergency School, a subsidiary of Lakeland College, renown for its emergency and fire training programs. Lakeland College is a board governed public college operating under the Colleges Act and functioning within the Alberta Post-secondary System.
Areas of Expertise
Lakeland College offers over 65 certificate, diploma, and post-diploma applied degree programs in several sectors, including agriculture, apprenticeship trades and heavy oil operations, business administration, environmental sciences, computer technology, health and human services, interior design, and university transfer. The College has many articulation agreements in place with post-secondary institutions across Canada and the US.
