Certificate Do you have a caring and compassionate attitude? A sense of professionalism and great patience? To meet the needs of our aging population, Health Regions across BC are opening thousands of new residential and assisted living units; the staffing needs for Resident Care Attendants/Health Care Assistants have never been greater. This is an excellent time to consider training for employment in this rewarding field as opportunities abound! While most graduates provide care for seniors, our in-class program prepares you to care for adults with a wide variety of chronic health conditions including dementia. You will work with people who will depend on you for daily care, support, encouragement, mobility and more and you will need to be able to build a trusting relationship with your patients and their families. You may also be involved with palliative care, which emphasizes easing a person's pain, enhancing their quality of life, and supporting their family. You will work as part of a team working with doctors, nurses and other health care professionals. Good communication skills are essential and Stenberg College includes communication training in the program.
